The history of Gemmy

Gemmy Industries was founded in 1984, making only non-singing toys. In 1988, they started to make animated plush toys. Their first animated toy was a Purple People Eater toy with a spinning horn and moving ears. In 1991, Gemmy started the North Pole Productions line and they made Pete the Repeat Parrot. It became so popular that over 1 million had been sold in stores. In 1993, Gemmy started the Halloween Factory line. Sadly, in 1998, they ended the Halloween Factory and North Pole Productions line. In 1999, they started the Dept. 13 Scareware line. In 2000, they ended the Dept. 13 Scareware line. The last Dept. 13 Scareware product was Big Mouth Billy Bones. In 2001, they began the Dancing Hamsters line. They used to be rubber, but over the years, they became stuffed. The first rubber hamster was Sleepy Simon, while the first stuffed hamster was the Kung Fu Hamster. The line became popular that customers uploaded videos of them on YouTube. In 2004, they started making adult products. They started the Monkey Town USA line in 2010 to replace the Dancing Hamsters and Dept. 13 Scareware line. In 2012, they continued making the Dancing Hamsters, only that they are more cuddly. They use "Synchromotion" in their products to make them a lot cool. That's all for the Gemmy history!
